Feature and its Use Cases
Feature:
Introduce a community support hub inside DebateAI that highlights ways users can support and contribute to the project. The goal is to improve open-source visibility, community engagement, and recognition for AOSSIE.
Currently, DebateAI does not have a dedicated place where users can easily discover ways to support the project or contribute to its development. This feature would add a “Support DebateAI” section in the UI that presents community-oriented actions such as:
- ⭐ Star the project on GitHub
- <> Contribute to the codebase
- 🐞 Report issues or bugs
- ❤️ Donate to support open-source development (UI only for now)
The donation option will be a UI-only entry point that redirects users to the appropriate external page.
Note: The donation redirect will only be implemented after approval and once the initial UI PR is merged, to keep contributions structured.
These options would simply redirect users to existing external resources such as GitHub or AOSSIE donation pages.
How would users benefit from it?
This feature improves the ecosystem around DebateAI by:
- Helping users easily discover how they can support the project.
- Increasing GitHub visibility and community participation.
- Encouraging developers to contribute code or report issues.
- Helping ensure proper recognition and visibility for AOSSIE as the organization maintaining DebateAI.
- Strengthening the open-source identity of the project.
For developers and contributors, this also creates a clearer onboarding pathway into the project.
What scenarios would this feature address?
- New users discovering DebateAI
- Users can quickly find the GitHub repository and star the project.
- Developers interested in contributing
- A direct path to the contribution guidelines or repository.
- Bug reporting
- A clear entry point to the GitHub issues page.
- Community support
- A donation entry point (UI only) that supports the sustainability of open-source development.
Additional Context
This feature is inspired by similar community support sections used in many open-source projects to guide users toward ways they can support or contribute.
