Is there a method to output simulation data to text file?

Is there currently a method to output simulation data into a text file/csv to be read into Matlab, etc. I'm sifting through the documentation and am not seeing it.

There is not. You would need to write your own mapping from the message recorder's or data logger's formats to your desired output format and then save to disk. It would probably be only 10-20 lines of code (which i can understand is why you thought there might already be something for this).
