Describe the issue

Previously, special symbols such as █ and ◑ could be pasted into documents. This made for fun stuff like this:

Now, it does this:

-and changes those symbols to various ascii vomit.

How to reproduce

1. Open paper.
2. Try to write a special character, such as the ones above.
