[Bug] Cannot reinstall BetterDiscord after Discord update

Describe the Bug

After Discord updated itself and overwrote my Discord installation I tried to install BetterDiscord again. But after opening the BetterDiscord-Windows.exe the splash screen showed for a very short while, closed, then a blank window popped up (probably the installation dialog window) and closed before loading. I tried it again the same way, tried running it as administrator and I tried it again after restarting my computer, none of these solved my issue.

Expected Behavior

I expected the installation dialogue window to open, stay open and let me install BetterDiscord.

Steps To Reproduce

1. I ran the newest BetterDiscord-Windows.exe installation after Discord updated itself
2. The installation dialogue failed to show up

Deleting all Discord related files and settings resolved the issue the last time this happened, but that is a very inconvenient and problematic work-around. Also I don't remember purely reinstalling Discord as sufficient for fixing the issue.

Since this is an issue with the installer, this issue should have been made in BetterDiscord/Installer. Perhaps a manager could transfer this issue over.

What troubleshooting steps have you taken? And Does the installer give any visible errors, or does it just silently fail and exit?

Oh, sorry about that, I didn't realize there is another repository and I didn't look for it.

What troubleshooting steps have you taken?

I have already mentioned them in the description, but I am listing them here again, and some more, that I didn't mention before — I tried:

1. running it again
2. running it as administrator
3. restarting my computer
4. running it again
5. running it again as administrator
6. downloading the newest BetterDiscord setup file from the website
7. running it while Discord is closed
8. running it while Discord is open

None of these solved the issue. This has been a problem in the past as well, but I didn't report it then. Eventually the setup works, but it's not quite clear to me why; also eventually worked this time, but it's unclear why, and it's long after I tried the listed troubleshooting methods, so those probably don't affect it.

No, it doesn't give any visible errors, I noticed some error text before it closed, but the window with the error closes itself almost instantly, and so I couldn't read it. It could be in the recording, but it happened really fast, so it's probably not there. So technically there is a visible error, but in practical terms it just silently fails and exits. I didn't find a log in the Windows reliability history either.

Also — after checking this repository — I don't think there is a bug report specifying my problem in this repository either; there are some older ones, but they from a few years back, and don't seem like the exact same issue.

I found a fix for it. I had to change the install location from appdata to C:/programdata/user/discord
To see programdata you need "show hidden folders" to be enabled

No, not really. I just deleted everything related to Discord and BetterDiscord and reinstalled it, which fixed it for a while, however it came back. Currently it doesn't happen to me; this whole thing is a mess.
