Any benefit of SDL3 to UG?

Yes in general, but have been plenty of changes between 2 and 3 - the code needs to be rewritten because the API changes. (Unless using the compatibility SDL2->SDL3 layer as there has been between SDL2 and SDL1.2). I've already made some work in my branch wip-sdl3 if you want to try out and I have to say that the behavior has changed:

1. [Linux] Vulkan renderer; the SDL2 code for Vulkan has been AFAIK just the support code but the actual rendering must have been implemented by the developer, as it is in UG by vulkan_sdl2
2. 10-bit rendering seem to be more reliable - actually seem like it will work with the Vulkan renderer and seemingly it doesn't and never have been with OpenGL renderer (although v2 accepted the PF)
3. even the UltraGrid native vulkan_sdl seem to be influenced. Eg. I am now testing with SW Vulkan renderer, which didn't work with vulkan_sdl2, unless (:driver=wayland) was requested; initialized with SDL3 it works even though the driver x11 is still used by default (don't know why) – (UPDATED) actually not the case, this one was caused by Firejail, which was not used for the later case

Also some things may work differently that I haven't came across yet.
