Alignment changes units efficiency in conjunction with day time:

  • chaotic: -25% on daylight, +25% at night
  • neutral
  • lawful: -25% at night, +25% at daylight (?)
  • liminal

Terrain https://wiki.wesnoth.org/Terrain_Terms gives maluses and bonuses depending on units:

  • elves have 70% hit rate when they are in forests
  • units in swallow water suffer a malus
  • ...
