Could not load system.alt hive MCE 2005

Hello, complete noob with this kind of thing so sorry if im missing something very obvious. Ive looked at the other open issue with the same error and im getting the same results however the circumstances are a tad different as im not trying another language. I have an image of an XP MCE 2005 install which im attempting to get working, ive restored the image to disk after following all the instructions and im up to the point of first boot on the apple TV (im at the point in the guide where you load/unload the hive etc, then plug drive back into atv) so havent even managed to get to a windows bootscreen at all yet.

When I power on the TV it boots to freeloader and then instantly throws the error about not being able to load system.alt.

I have tried verbose boot as seen in the other issue and i seem to get the same results

I'm using an mSata to IDE adapter if that is relevant. Image obviously boots with no issues on qemu.

Keyboard also doesnt seem to work as I cant press enter, but I can see the clock ticking in the corner of freeloader (when SOS is not enabled) so its not hanging.

This is the same problem with the NVIDIA driver I’ve seen before with non-English Windows. Try installing Windows on a FAT32 partition. Also, make sure you have the system set up to go to the login screen instead of the desktop by setting a password for the user. That will likely prevent USB issues once the system boots; once the system boots once with working USB you should be able to remove the password.

This is prior to installing any drivers just to clarify, I haven’t got as far as booting xp on the tv yet in any form, this is the first attempt at connecting the hdd to the tv after writing the disk image to the drive.

Will try with fat32 and see if that fixes it
