Meta feature request: Adhere to Conventional Commits standard

over the years, i've found that commit messages are often very tricky to define in the changelog, and sometimes even the changelog is difficult to define the next release semver number.

recently i found a standard of commit messaging called Conventional Commits that may help address this issue of vagueness.

this may also entail updating the changelog categories.
