some marine BGC tests fail in seaice using the gnu compiler after PR #7132 #7275
Description
After PR #7132 was merged to master, there were some tests using marine BGC that appear to seg-fault in mpas-seaice using the gnu compiler. This was first observed on gcp12 but also verified running SMS_Ld2.ne30pg2_r05_IcoswISC30E3r5.BGCEXP_CNTL_CNPRDCTC_1850.chrysalis_gnu.elm-bgcexp. gcp12 gave a better traceback in debug mode that points to an issue with verticalBCTotalIceCell in subroutine seaice_icepack_reinitialize_diagnostics_bgc
