Similar to as in CTSM5.3 we need to develop a What's New document to describe what comes in with ctsm5.4.0 and the ctsm5.4.X release tag that will follow it. This will be the changes since the ctsm5.3.021 release tag.

Some things to mention already:

• New nfix method default for clm6_0 physics
• New IC files for clm6_0
• Pressure in urban building model updated
• Turn off Meier roughness for FATES simulations

Things we expect to come in:

• CRUJRA the default DATM forcing for clm6_0
• New CMIP7 surface/landuse timeseries datasets
• New NEON IC files?
• New CMIP7 forcing?
• New population density and crop-fire peak month datasets
