The commit that put those in place ( 3bbaa1a ) mentions this file was required to be in place for the dashboard-ip service. The service, if I remember correctly, assumes this file is in place and makes decisions based on the value in the file. I think the dashboard-ip service is having some trouble with RHEL/CentOS 7 currently. The GeoIP .dat files are not in the correct place on 7. Anyway, I agree this file would be great to remove. I think I'll leave this open for now though. |
