The gemini-3-pro-preview model has been shutdown. And the use case we have here can certainly be done with gemini-3-flash, we don't need a Pro model for that.

Summary of Changes

Hello, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request updates the generative AI model used within the FriendlyMeals application. The change addresses the deprecation of the gemini-3-pro-preview model by migrating to gemini-3-flash-preview, ensuring continued functionality while also optimizing resource consumption by utilizing a model better suited for the application's specific needs.

Highlights

  • Model Update: Updated the generative AI model from "gemini-3-pro-preview" to "gemini-3-flash-preview" in the NutritionViewModel.
  • Resource Optimization: Switched to the more efficient "gemini-3-flash-preview" model, as the application's use case does not require a Pro model, following the shutdown of the previous preview model.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Changelog
  • firebase-ai-friendly-meals/apple/FriendlyMeals/FriendlyMeals/Features/Nutrition/ViewModels/NutritionViewModel.swift
    • Updated the modelName from "gemini-3-pro-preview" to "gemini-3-flash-preview" within the NutritionViewModel.

Code Review

This pull request updates the generative model name from gemini-3-pro-preview to gemini-3-flash-preview. While the new model name is correct, the use of a hardcoded string can be improved. I've added a suggestion to define the model name as a constant to improve maintainability.
