Application Crashes when clicking "Settings" or "connect to handy directly"

i am getting this net runtime error and script player crashes whenever i click on "settings" or "connect to handy directly" on the top dropdown menus

i am running windows 10 fully updated version 22h2 (build 19045.5608) with reinstalled dotnet 3.5 & 4.8, reinstalled ms visual c++ redist both x86 and x64 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015-2022

i also runned dism, chckdsk, sfc but still same issue, reinstalled the old version and the beta one still does not fix the issue, edited the .xml file to specify core dotnet still did not fix the issue. thanks for hearing me out.

That's odd, all this line does is load an embedded image file.
Unfortunately I can't reproduce this issue.

i used win debugger to run the program i get an exception at 'ScriptPlayer.Controls.CutoutPreview' -> Line number '198' and line position '34' as seen here:

I've been having the same issue with settings crashing Script Player. Script Player also won't remember window position and size as well as any time I try to rename or delete a video the application will crash.

Thankfully connecting to The Handy was NOT crashing the application. That is it wasn't until I rolled my firmware back to v3 to get around a server issue they were having. Worked fine in HereSphere, but when using it in Script Player it crashes seconds after saying it has connected and that there's an optional update.

I tried uninstalling and renaming my appdata folder, but the same issue occurs after reinstalling.

I updated my handy back to v4 and it connects without issue.

I'm guessing something has happened which causes the computer to crash whenever ScriptPlayer tries to change data somewhere. I'm at a loss on what to try to un-do whatever is causing it.

I'm curious if OP were to update their handy to firmware v4 if their immediate issue would be resolved as it does for mine.
