As per https://github.blog/2022-06-08-sunsetting-atom/ the recommended Atom editor is being sunset and will only be in support until the 15th of December 2022.
Since Microsoft bought Github, the suggested replacement is, naturally, Microsofts own Visual Studio Code.
There are other options though, for example VSCodium or perhaps JetBrains Fleet.
We should decide on what editor to recommend instead of Atom, ideally having at least syntax highlighting and hopefully also collaborative features.
