Is this project still alive. Shall the community consider a different maintainer at this point ?

Duplicate of #178, although that issue doesn't make any helpful suggestions, just basically demands an updated PPA.

There is ample evidence that @JMoerman has been looking for help for a while, due to a long bout of illness and needing to focus on university studies. I would say the project is in hobby mode¹ at best.

This fork seems to have bugfixes that are not present in Manuel-Kehl/Go-For-It, however the fork relationship has been broken, so it's a bit difficult to see how far they've diverged at a glance. That said, the ellie-commons organization might be a good place to transfer one of the repositories, even if no one is able to take over maintainership. There are a few volunteers affiliated with the elementary OS project looking over that org who might be able to help with small things like merging translations or fixing packaging issues.
