Problems with saving the recorded spectra and fits of N2(C-B)

Hey Julian,

I'm encountering some problems when saving spectra and fits. With a spectrum of OH and fit, it works perfectly fine to make the right click and go to export. However, when I have a spectrum and a fit of N2(C-B) or N2+(B-X), the export function generates an empty csv file. Is this problem known, and if so, how can I solve it?

Hey Steffen,

Not a known problem! And also sounds very weird.
How exactly are you exporting the data? Right-clicking on the graph view in the middle? If so, that is the built-in export function of the plotting backend I am using and I have very little control over what happens there. Try using the file->export menu at the top of the window. That will hopefully work.

I will still take a look at the right-click menu as well, but the solution might be to rather just deactivate that than to fix it because I'm not sure I will be able to.

Hey Julian,

thanks for the quick reply. I've tried the file-> export function, but that doesn't work either. An error appears with this function and an empty txt file is created. So maybe not a problem with the inbuilt export function?

Hey Steffen,

I found the problem for File->Export: np.savetxt() uses latin1 encoding by default and that does not support the 2 in N₂ we are trying to save.
It's fixed in git and I will release a new version over the weekend.

I assume that rightclick -> export has the same problem, but I cannot fix that without patching pyqtgraph. I will probably just remove the export function in the rightclick menu alltogether (note for myself: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44402399/how-to-disable-the-default-context-menu-of-pyqtgraph). Until then, I will keep the issue open as a reminder.
