I am a research assistant studying the early changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) using diffusion and quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). My objective is to detect and validate subtle white matter alterations at the earliest stages, starting from preclinical models and translating findings into clinical applications.
19+
20+
My work focuses on two microstructural processes involved in AD: myelin loosening — the initial breakdown of the protective sheath surrounding nerve fibers — and axonal swelling, a change in axonal shape. By integrating quantitative MRI to evaluate myelin loosening and diffusion MRI to investigate axonal morphology, I aim to contribute to earlier diagnosis and a better understanding of Alzheimer’s disease.
