Diagnostic KHTH_t/diftrblo causing NetCDF write error #881
Description
Xinru Li discovered in her ESM4 runs that including the diftrblo variable in the ocean_annual_z diag_table would occasionally lead to an error:
NetCDF: Numeric conversion not representable
This behavior was random on two levels:
- In some years, changing the weather (i.e.
make_exchange_reproduce) was sufficient to carry on with the simulation - In one other case, rerunning the exact same simulation was successful.
In talking with @Hallberg-NOAA, we had initially thought this to be an improperly initialized diagnostic, but the code seems to suggest otherwise.
This a pretty difficult error to isolate into a smaller test case.
