Description
Identification explained:
- Some/most loot found in chests will be "Unidentified," meaning their stats are completely hidden from the player. This can include tools, accessories, foods, or potions (just as examples.)
- A player can use a "Scroll of Identification" to identify the loot, revealing its stats to only that player.
Advantages of this mechanic:
- Identification is per-player, meaning that if an item is identified by player 1, then given to player 2, player 2 will still see it as "Unidentified." This can lead to scenarios of trust-building among players, or potentially trolling and scamming. Either way, it would lead to fun outcomes!
- An unidentified potion may have negative or positive effects, but can still be used. This introduces risk/reward to looting while also giving the player the option to negate the risk at the cost of a resource.
- Scrolls of Identification themselves can be placed as loot in chests.
This mechanic will likely need much testing before being added, hence why I've given it the experimental tag.
