[Question] Was make oldconfig always asking so many questions?

Hi, first thank you for your great developement. I saw that the prebuilt binaries have not been updated scince the end of August so I thought I will build the image myself. I followed the instructions, but make oldconfig asked about ~200 questions because of NEW config entries. I just held down enter so it answers every question with the default value. Was it always like that? I think I built this repo half a year ago and then it was not asking so many questions.
Also: do you plan to provide updated binaries in the future again? Can we maybe even expect the new major OpenWRT release?

I'm used to build an image in this manner:

rm -rf bin build_dir/target-* staging_dir/target-* tmp ; cat config/eb904xDSL_minimal.in config/eb904xDSL_additional.in >.config && make defconfig && make V=s -j4 2>&1 | tee build.log

FYI, some kind of restructuring is happen these days. Currently the branch
master-lede_rebased_4.19_test is up to date and a little bit converged to the preparation of an openwrt PR made by Plonkbong:

That means you have to flash the resulting image via command line via the -F switch:
sysupgrade -F <image>

Thank you very much for the reply and instructions. I also started noticing that the _test branch is more up-to-date and I will shortly try to build and flash that one instead then with the commands you provided :) Thank you for the hard work!

Just wanted to let you know: I flashed a clean fullimage (2018-12-05) via tftp and then wanted to flash the latest 2020-07-10 prebuilt image via the web gui. It did not apply the image, so I needed to scp and ssh and then use the sysupgrade -F . No problem for me, but maybe the docs need to be updated, or an updated fullimage.img can be created? Thank you anyway, the 2020-07-10 image was more or less stable, it crashed one time in 16 hours (using it as a WLAN AP). I'm very excited about future development
