It's a nice idea. It is (presumably) already doable through ini modding by utilising the GLA hole logic, though it would be a lot of work. |

I think this is an interesting idea, but it doesn't tackle the underlying issue that rubble causes pathfinding problems, whether it can be removed easily or not. I think the better approach would be to ask ourselves if rubble should interfere with pathfinding at all |

Perhaps rubble can interfere with infantry but not vehicles in a similar fashion to fences. |

If you destroyed a civilian buildings, rubble will take the place of the building. Interrupting units pathfinding and can only be cleared by placing a scaffold on top of it. What if we add an invisible HP bar to the rubble, so every splash damage type weapon can damage the rubble and once the rubble HP is at 0 it will sink in the ground and disappear.
This adds an extra way of clearing the rubble without having to scaffold remove it. Like a scudstorm destroys the building and is also capable of removing that rubble cause of the amounts of damage a scudstorm does. This allows for the map to open up nicely.
