To set up the extension, download the latest release from the releases section. When the download finishes, unzip the folder, copy it, and paste it into the SSMS extensions folder. By default for SSMS 17 this should be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\140\Tools\Binn\ManagementStudio\Extensions\

The final result should look like this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\140\Tools\Binn\ManagementStudio\Extensions\CSVPaste

The first time SSMS starts after you’ve pasted the folder it will show a warning message that something is wrong with the extension.

Warning Message

Select “No” and restart SSMS. The next time it starts the extension will work properly. To find out more about the warning message see the Known issues and limitations section of the wiki.
