Question about increasing sets #188
-
Hi, I am trying to understand how MyFit adjusts reps, load, and number of sets compared to the RP Hypertrophy app. I know the RP app bases its changes between microcycles based on the questions it asks you during and after the workouts (soreness, joint pain, pump, difficulty). How does MyFit make changes based on my performance? Or are the changes between microcycles only based on the user set progression settings of the mesocycle? Does the program know if I should be changing my number of sets, and if so based on what? Thanks for working on this program. I think it's really cool. I liked that the RP hypertrophy app figured out for me how much volume I should be doing each week, but I am looking for an alternative that isn't so costly. I was unsure MyFit can do that too |

MyFit primarily uses performance changes, which is a lot more objective compared to soreness and pump, to increase sets. It's something Menno, and many others have advocated as it's a much better proxy to measure recovery and adaptation. If your performance has improved since last time, you're recovering. If it's not, you aren't. Of course there's a lot more nuances but that's the gist of the reasoning. |
