Volume control possible?

Hi, thank you for the work. 
I used this example and got the wav output working in my project. But I can not find any documentation on how to reduce or control the volume. 

How can I avoid always blasting full power from the MAX98357A?

The gain for the MAX98357A is already set to lowest level.

Any help appreciated.
