Test my library outside of example apps

Hey everyone,

I'm currently stuck on exposing my library to external local apps.

I've done the npx react-native-builder-bob@latest init , implemented Native changes in the examples folder and both apps work.

However, when I try using the library in an external application (i.e. another RN app, that's not the example) the library returns as undefined.

I did yarn prepare and performed a symlink using npm link but still no luck. I can see the library in the apps node_modules but it returns "unable to resolve module" errors. I've also tried importing the library via NativeModules as shown in RN Docs here.

In the src/index.tsx file I've added an export to the library.

Any guide on what I'm missing would be really appreciated 🙏

Do you have any pointers on what I could be doing wrong? I've been on this quite a bit and wouldn't want to give up at the last minute.

this, in general, is an auto-linking problem, can you run npx react-native config in the external app and make sure your library is being linked properly? To check that, you can install another lib that contains some native code and compare the outputs.

If linking is fine, then I'm not quite sure what the problem is.

@atlj Thanks for the suggestion. I run the command and the library was shown in the dependancies object, however this was after I manually linked it in package.json using the file: "../my-module" .

I also run the same command on the my custom library and noticed that the sourceDir points to the root android folder, and not the example/android
