RN 0.76 - Kotlin: DeviceEventManagerModule not working

Referencing this issue, as its the same problem I'm facing: reactwg/react-native-new-architecture#247

I'm currently facing the same issue after setting up a similar event emitter bridge. Same setup, same version of rn for the example app.

Anyone face this and know of a solution or explanation of why this error is happening?

just to update, wrote it in Java to get around this issue.
