Tests: Case insenstive option for fill-in-the-blanks

I manage http:/campus.fuss.bz.it used by about 3000 users in Bolzano (North Italy).
Some teachers asked me to send this suggestion:
Fill blanks or form:
currently the answers are case sensitive. It would not be possible to insert the possibility to disable case sensitive. I am thinking for example for tests carried out by young pupils.

Congrats on your 3000 users. We organize "Chamilo Camp" events in French and Spanish about once a month. Maybe we can do one in Italian. Send me a mail at ywarnier at chamilo dot org if interested in discussing this in the long term.

Thanks for passing the suggestion. Yes, we discussed this a few times already but apparently we didn't have this as a recorded issue yet.

This could be done manually (temporarily) in main/exercise/fill_blanks.class.php by modifying the comparison around line 753 (case self::FILL_THE_BLANK_STANDARD: to do a strtolower() on both sides of the comparison:

$result = strtolower($studentAnswer) == strtolower(self::trimOption($correctAnswer));

This should work, but it would apply to all standard fill-in-the-blanks questions on the platform.
