Don’t know which scale you have, but on the xiaomi scale, you have to wait for the white line on the scale to start flashing,before it sends the impedance.

I have a Silvergear Scale, but the integration reports it as a Lacia Smart Scale. After the readings, the value remains unknown.

Can you post the BLE messages of your scale? We might be able to figure out what is wrong. Without data, it will be impossible to find out what is wrong.
