React 19 ref issue

Accessing element.ref was removed in React 19. ref is now a regular prop. It will be removed from the JSX Element type in a future release.
Basic use of the image carousel component, even if no ref is passed.

@dosu this is the exact opposite of the correct assessment.

React 19 treats refs as normal props. forwardRef is no longer required and will be deprecated.

To fix, a React 19 compatible version of this library needs to remove all usage of forwardRef and switch to passing ref as a normal prop.
