support https proxy

duckdb supports http proxies but not https proxies. for folks behind corporate proxies this makes things like authenticating with the gsheets extension or reading a gsheet impossible. Is it possible to add https proxy support, either via env vars like HTTPS_PROXY, or via the secrets manager like you can do for http_proxy?

Not sure what the status of that is.

I'm trying to consolidate a lot of the transport layer work into a more strategic PR instead of the current patching that we've been doing.

Some things I'm currently tackling:

• HTTPS support
• Response code error handling
• WASM support

All of these are semi-related in the sense that it will take some changes to the transport layer which is why I'm trying to go top-down to address these while also making sure that things are more robust and easier to change in the future.

Thanks for the quick response! That all makes sense. sounds like a lot of work is needed! do you have any timeline on when the changes will be implemented?

Unfortunately no. It's a labor of love and best I can do is allocate some nights and weekends to it. I'll try to put my work up as a draft PR too and link to this issue. Won't give a timeline but will at least allow you and other to see if progress is still moving or has stalled

Hey @shuaahvee, #100 did not implement this directly but it did unblock this work.

I need to do some research on proxies to see what edge cases there are but I'd like to merge something this week or next
