VS Code - Vue Official Highlight Errors

With a fresh Nuxt 4 and VFD 4.0.1 install, using the example component from the documentation. The code runs fine, but I believe the Vue Js extension for VS Code is incorrectly lighting up my file with errors. It can't find any of the component properties, and there's another error A module cannot have multiple default exports.ts-plugin(2528).

I only experienced these issues when moving to Nuxt 4.

I've spent hours trying to track down when this broke. I was seeing it in older commits using Nuxt 3.15. For anyone else who experiences this, I found in VS Code it was the Vue.js version extension version 3.1.0. If you downgrade to version 3.0.8 the "errors" go away and everything is happy again.

Yep, I opened an issue there which they closed. They intentionally removed decorator support under the guise of removing Vue2 support. I'm not a fan of the composition api, and prefer to stick to using OOP. Our team don't really understand why people are choosing to abandon a programming paradigm that's been around for decades in favour of messier code... Our only solution for now is to use version 3.0.8 of the plugin.

Hey guys,

there is still a way we can use the latest VS Code plugin.
Make sure to pin (or add) your dependency to

"@vue/language-server": "~3.0.0"

then in your .vscode/settings file you can add a line
"vue.server.path": "frontend/node_modules/@vue/language-server" (or wherever your node_module folder is)

This way your plugin will still work.

In my setup i use vite and typescript so i also had to pin my vue-tsc dependency to 3.0.8 otherwise vue-tsc would fail with the same error the VS Code plugin would show

Thanks mate. I had read that before. My issue is that my understanding is that it limits us to that version, so future changes to Vue won't be supported for us.

Yep, it seems like sooner or later (better sooner) we have to migrate to the native options or composition API
