I looked at your code you would need to pass the id as well in the handler for developer api to work. Replace FunctionResponsePart("onePlusOne", result) with FunctionResponsePart("onePlusOne", result, functionCall.id) and the same in the else condition.

The docs say

Was the API changed in a recent version and the docs are out of date?

Okay, just verified that passing functionCall.id works, thanks. The docs should be updated.
