Part of investigating decisions discussed in #121.

This is branching off an old commit, namely after 9681d4d and 9e92fe8 were made compilable. Just testing whether that version would have worked with 6.0.1.

Do not rebase with main or merge!

Ok, so there was nothing that prevented us using FSharp.Core.dll 6.0.1 (all tests on the old commit succeeded). See #123 for the actual PR.
