[Question] Any way to use your window helpers to open a new window the mouse is on?

Hi. Is there any way with your window helpers to either:

• Open a new window on the screen the mouse pointer is on (without a visible shift)?
• Open a new window on the screen another window is on with the same size and position?

There’s a DisplayMonitorHelper available that allows you to retrieve the active monitor or a list of all monitors. However, to position a window at the current mouse location, you’ll still need to do some additional work—such as manually getting the mouse position and moving the window accordingly.

i did not test codes but you can do something like this:

    newWindow.Activate();

Hi. I didn't want to open yet another thread for this, but I am having an issue when using the following:

DevWinUI.DisplayMonitorHelper.GetMonitorInfo(window).RectWork
DevWinUI.DisplayMonitorHelper.GetMonitorInfo(window).RectMonitor

It seems to always return the rects for the primary monitor and not the rect for the monitor that window is currently on. X and Y are always 0,0 for me when a monitor located to the left of my primary monitor should have a negative X number. Are you able to replicate? I have tried it with many valid windows (window is never null). Thanks!

For some background: I added three options to my app for each user so they can specify their preferred placement for new application windows when they open:

1. On the primary monitor
2. On the monitor that the main application window appears on
3. On the monitor where the current/previously active window appears on

So I have the code set up to place newly cerated windows using MoveAndResize or the ResizeAndCenterWindowToPercentageOfWorkArea method I sent you to include in DevWinUI. But whenever I check for the main application window or the currently active window's location using DevWinUI.DisplayMonitorHelper.GetMonitorInfo(window) when the user selects option 2 or 3 above, it doesn't return the correct monitor/coordinates to place the new window on. So the new windows always appear on the primary monitor currently.

Sorry, I didn’t see your message earlier—strange!
I don’t have a second monitor, so I can’t test it right now. I’m currently a bit busy fixing some bugs and dealing with Native AOT issues.

Sorry, but this is not easy to do without a second monitor. I don't have access to another monitor at the moment.

Can't you use a second device like a phone, tablet, laptop and use Apollo and Moonlight (Voidlink)?
That way you have a second virtual display.

I only have a laptop and an Android Galaxy A51 phone. I don’t have any experience using a phone as a second monitor, but I’ll give it a try when I have time.
