What is decoder or encoder for string data type ?

I didn't find method for decoding / encoding string data type, how to decode / encode a string ?
I got this boilerplate from create-solana-dapp template https://github.dev/solana-foundation/templates/tree/main/gill/gill-next-tailwind-basic

I thought there was a method called getStringDecoder()
What do you think ?
