Menu dropdown broken in 1.18.16

After updating the Theme to 1.18.16, our menus broke. On the language switcher, instead of a caret down, there is now broken svg markup filling the menu bar. Functionality of the dropdown persists. Downgrading the theme to 1.18.15 fixes this issue, but as we are running a managed wordpress site, we would like to continue using the most recent theme versions.

Cannot provide a link to a live example, because page needs to be presentable to customers, but has been repro'ed by Polylang support.

I was able to replicate this bug. - Upload polylang plugin. - Add a few languages. - Add the language switcher to the menu as a dropdown. - Set the language switcher dropdown to be icons. - See problem on front end.
