Navigation trough parts

hi we are just starting to use Inventree for our company and we are struggling a bit with navigating trough parts. currently you have to go to the part categories and then go to the parts tab to see what parts are in that part category. this has to be done for every time which is not that intuitive. is there an option to include the parts in the category navigation tree ? we have quite alot of sub categories .

this is the main page we ideally want to use on a daily basis when looking for parts and navigate through.

i can freely browse in these sub categories but if there are parts in one of the sub categories i will have to go to the parts tab for each one to check

if i click the parts tab i can see the parts

i think it was working like that earlier but i might have changed some setting during configuration or im going crazy

for example

category switches (main category)

(subcategories)
-push switch =here is a list of Push switches

-toggle switch = here is a list of toggle switches
-components (list of spareparts for switches in the previous category)

I tried on the demo site and the new ui and its the same. It will unfortunately be hard to convince my colleagues to use this system if they just get blank pages when looking for parts.

im sorry that i come forward as ungrateful, i feel bad about the approach. im just quite stressed as ive been allocated a short time to get things up and running. i really appriciate what you guys have done and before we started i said to the managment that we could contribute to help get the creators to be able to maintain the project and add features. sponsoring the project is not off the table since if it works well for us we can move expensive paid subscriptions over to this project and get better results.

It is like that since the very beginning. 0.2.xx :-)
If you select categories you see categories. If you select parts you see parts. I had similar discussions in the beginning but people get used to it.
I think there was a discussion about switching to parts automatically when the end of the cat tree is reached. Years ago.

Is it not a bit counterintuitive as you would have to go back and forth to check each category for parts? I can see some sense to it but it would be great to have a tick box "show parts" then you could browse for parts in a tree structure really easily and find what you need. I see there are some similar discussions like https://www.reddit.com/r/InvenTree/s/TDk1K2tRyD Im sorry if i sound harsh i really like the software and i fought hard to convince the managment to give it a try so i want to not scare them off yet as it has quite alot of potential for us.

Checkout the tree, when clicking on the little "burger menu" icon on the left. I think that view has to be improved to be a bit more dense and show more information about the category, also auto expand to the current element, ..., and then its as usable as if the parts where shown directly without the mess if a category contains sub categories, but also directly parts.

I think that the approach suggested by @wolflu05 above is suitable here, no?

1. Select the "parts" tab to show all parts in a category
2. Use the pop-out tree to quickly change between categories
3. The "parts" tab is always displayed first for each selected category

I would think this gets you what you want. Obviously we cannot change the UI on each request based on a particular user preference!

not quite, unfortunatly. the pop out tree collapses and resets if you have pressed a category and you will have to renavigate again.
what im after is basically the same as its in windows folders where you navigate like a folder structure and you see the parts in one big folder but there are sub folders with sub parts and other sub folders. this makes it easy to navigate through big structures.

is a plugin a way to solve this or is it something you can consider looking into ?
