Advantage vs. ESP-IDF version of Spiffs?

Sorry for opening an issue for this, but I'd love to know. Btw. I just used this and it works great, though it seems there is no subdirectory support.

This project (example) was started at the time there was no spiffs support in esp-idf.

The example is now modified to use the esp-idf spiffs, but some modifications was added to enable the directory functions.
