Player name missing when using a custom launcher in AoE 3

Hello
When launching Age of Empires III: DE using the emulator, the profile name displays correctly on the main menu (e.g., "Eric"). However, during LAN multiplayer matches, the player name always appears as “Player 1” or Empty, instead of the configured name Eric.
i just tried usiing AgeLanServer with the Simplest way to use it.
the game i have is already with Built-in Emulator i guess!

I think the server is probably not returning the username once in a lobby and so the game reverses to a default name, what's strange (and what probably explains why I did not pick up this error before), is that with the official launcher seem to work just fine... maybe there is some cache going on here.

Edit: even removing all metadata/profiles as starting with the official launcher for the first time, it still works fine.

I've reviewed the server and all seems fine, maybe it's a Steam Emu issue but hard to say.

It seems to be something related to the portable version I have. I tried modifying all the files and user settings in the steam_settings folder, but our usernames in the lobby always revert to a default name

Maybe I should have downloaded a clean version of the game with the emulator separately, and then added AgeLanServer afterward. I’ve never done that before, but I hope it works!

I confirmed this bug with the same game installation and is working fine via Steam and has the bug when using my provided Steam Emu instructions. Apart from a possible Steam Emu issue, maybe the game does some external API call and when using Steam Emu it is not authorized. A good test you could try is to try it without internet (make sure you use my Age3FakeOnline.dll tho) ;)
