Sorry how to persist column position settings? for example I need to have "Modified" as 2nd column after "Name"

If you mean the columns in the detailed list view, no code is added for remembering their positions; only their visibility is remembered.

I think this should be a feature request or even be treated as a bug. Changing the position of the columns is quite pointless, if it is restored to default as soon as you change the folder.
I was missing this feature just now.
