Reduce unwanted horizontal movement / wiggle in the switch

Title says it all

Needed to measure the difference between the slot in the button cap, and the foot on the holder to lower the tolerance to prevent the button from wiggling once assembled.

Measured the cap but there was no file for the holder, had to rip and export the piece from the fully assembled switch file

I only add the issue here because everything else is very well documented, I'd assume one missing piece is an oversight.

I can't seem to attach the file I pulled either, initially was going to do that for convenience until this was fixed

Hey @Haten0 . The Cap Holder is a component within the main Fusion assembly file. (i.e., https://github.com/makersmakingchange/Interact-Switch/blob/main/Design_Files/CAD_Design_Files/Interact%20Switch.f3z)

However, you shouldn't need to modify that part to adjust the clearance based on your printer tolerances. Instead, print and reassemble the switch using a thicker Button Cap Insert. (https://github.com/makersmakingchange/Interact-Switch/tree/main/Build_Files/3D_Printing_Files/Variants/ButtonCapInsert). The default is 0.4 mm, so try 0.5 mm or 0.6 mm. Make sure you are using a finer printer layer height (e.g., 0.1 mm)

I'd talked about pulling the holder from the main assembly file, I only mention it as an issue due to the fact that almost every other part is listed individually, I was looking for the part to measure it, to know how much clearance there is in the slot within the cap itself

The issue we found lies in the clearance the holder has in the cap itself, allowing it to shift side-to-side slightly.
We've been using 0.6mm inserts as they serve us best for the function and being more generally comfortable. But as previously mentioned its able to shake when pressed.

Gotcha - the best place to look at that will again be the main file. (The convention in Fusion is to have most parts contained within the same file in a top-down design arrangement.)

The current clearance between the Button Cap and Button Cap Holder is 0.25 mm. That likely translate into additional possible horizontal movement since there are the three places it is supported.

Hey @Haten0,

We've made a few changes to the design of the Base (version number, improved switch fit, switch label to help with proper switch alignment.) We've also updated the files so the 'default' insert is 0.6 mm.

Any updates or suggestions on the topper sideways clearance?

Yes!! i apologize for my delay
this is what we found to bring in the fit to what we'd wanted, it's very nitpicky as it doesn't affect function at all, and is just to feel and fit tighter

we're loving the new bases!! very helpful!

It's only a difference of about 0.76mm in total from the original model, but was enough we could feel it and were happier
