Improve manual testing documentation -  Replace some tests with unit/system tests

Some tests in the manual testing instructions are quite repetitive and could be done as unit or system tests. This would allow to reduce the necessary manual tests by focussing on areas that are difficult to test automatically or are prone to have bugs, for instance, intensity corrections.
