@mention suggestions

Hello, I have an ASPNET MVC application that is hooked up to the graph via the mgt toolkit's ProxyProvider

I would like to recreate the functionality that microsoft teams or outlook has where a user can type an "@" and a popup comes up with people that they can "mention"

My current attemp is:

1. Add keyup event listener and catch @ keypress using event.which == 50
2. Hidden div shows and mgt-people-picker is rendered when the condition is met, but this is not the behavior I want.
3. The picker appears off to the side which means I have to click into that field to select a person.

I would like for the search to integrate into the textarea itself, like it works in teams.

Has anyone implemented anything close to this?

It's something we are hearing more and more this scenario. Can you expand on what would be your preferred way of playing with this data? And how as a developer you'd love to be able to have control over the picker?
