Merge symbols but retain current dimensions in instances

Is it not possible to retain the dimensions of your instances of symbols after merging? I have symbols that have been deliberately stretched and scaled and when I merge the duplicates, their sizes all reset to the original symbol dimensions. Having this feature is the whole reason I purchased the plugins so I'm surprised that it's not a feature.
