Silent failure to update if no permission

I'm using the web-GUI on Apache on Linux. The tool appears to run fine, and reports e.g. 74 files = 68 okay + 6 warnings, but the (read-only) files aren't being updated. Changing the permissions fixed my immediate problem. :-)

I suggest the tool throws an error if it fails to update a file.
