Horizontal scrollbar in Cosmic Edit placed too close to resize border, hard to grab #389

Description

App: Cosmic Edit
App Version: https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-edit/commits/7d279a1d8bde4e5b3f485cf9969fba13f43a9324
OS / Pop!_OS Version: 24.04 “Cosmic”
Window Manager: (Cosmic/Wayland)

Details:

  • Turning word wrap OFF causes a horizontal scrollbar to appear for lines longer than window width.
  • The scrollbar is positioned very near the bottom edge of the window, right above (or overlapping with) the window resize border / handle.
  • Because of that proximity, it is difficult to grab the scrollbar to scroll left/right: often the resize handle overlaps the scrollbar or interferes with grabbing it.

Expected behavior:

  • A small margin or padding between scrollbar and resize frame, so users can reliably grab the scrollbar without triggering window resize.
  • Possibly a setting to control the padding, or move scrollbar slightly above the window border.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Cosmic Edit.
  2. Disable word wrap.
  3. Create or open a document with long lines (longer than the window width).
  4. Observe the horizontal scrollbar at bottom.
  5. Try to resize window from bottom edge vs try to grab the scrollbar. Notice the difficulty / mis-clicks / interference.
