Description
Yesterday me and @Elxes04 did some tests using rustdesk, both using COSMIC.
Today I'm reporting this to hopefully give people a reference point and to receive a possible reply from the COSMIC team, of course.
Describe the bug
- Installing rustdesk using AppImage or Flatpak gives a portal error, I know that this is being worked on.
- Installing rustdesk using the .deb version gives the "pipewire error"
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
-
Install rustdesk using AppImage or Flatpak
-
Connect to a computer that also uses COSMIC
-
A portal error will be given, related to this protocol missing
-
Install rustdesk using the .deb version
-
Connect to a computer that also uses COSMIC
-
It'll give you the "pipewire bug" message, it says that you have to upgrade (or downgrade) it, but that's unacceptable (the containerized version would fix that, of course, so that's the only viable option in the future)
Spoiler: I have pipewire 1.2.7
, not 0.3.something
, the version that rustdesk says to install.
Expected behavior
Compatibility for COSMIC on COSMIC remote desktop sessions.
Desktop (please complete the following information):
- OS: Pop!_OS 24.04
(on both machines)
Additional context
Connecting to a machine that runs X11 gives no problem, since the error gets created by the "host machine".
