Description
As part of our business planning for the 2025/26 financial year, the Trustees group have been working on a vision statement for the publisher (ProgHist Ltd). The purpose of this statement is to support decision making: that is, when we are unsure of what decision to make or action to tkae, we can check against the vision to see if it proposed decision or action advances our stated vision.
The proposed vision statement is as follows:
To be the foremost publisher of open and trustworthy digital humanities methods, empowering humanists everywhere to learn, teach, and research with technology. We grow with care, nurture global communities of learners, educators, and practitioners, are attentive to technology and publishing trends, and use our platform to foster diversity in voices, backgrounds, and perspectives in the humanities.
Thoughts, reflections, and feedback are sought from the wider editorial team no later than 1 September.
Note that this is intended as a 'working' statement that we can iterate as appropriate (which is to say that it is different from our stated charitable purpose which is fixed, see here). I therefore recommend that you focus your comments on substance - that is, for example, does this statement fit with your sense of what the publisher should be striving to achieve? - rather than subtle shifts of vocabulary or additions to take account of a particular aspect of our collective work.
Many thanks for your time and effort in supporting this work.
