Same issue was closed as completed in 2022 without any comments or tips on how to resolve the error,
could you please advise further steps?

This problem indicates a missing pkg-config package.
You can install it with sudo apt install pkg-config.

I've updated the build documentation to add pkg-config in the dependency list.

But at next stage I've got another one:

Indeed, llhttp is now required (instead of http-parser) to build the proxy.

When using CMake to build (the recommended way), CMake will automatically download and build llhttp when needed (see the updated build instructions).

It's still possible to build with autotools, in that case you would need to build/install llhttp manually:

It should work if you try again now with the latest master branch.
It happened because we merged new features requiring a recent GnuTLS version probably just before you tried building. Today we restored building for older GnuTLS version.

Thank you, now it's finally built!

The only question left is - when I run node like this:
dhtnode -b bootstrap.jami.net:4222 -p 4242 --proxyclient proxy.jami.net:80 --proxyserver 4343 -s -f /etc/opendht/data.save -i --save-identity /etc/opendht/id.save -l /var/log/opendht.log
is there way to check status of the currently running node?

Like one I can get by firing dhtnode without any parameters and having there ll command?

Files in /etc/opendht/ are created but log is totally empty...

And in both desktop (Debian) and mobile (Android 10) clients new proxy doesn't work for me.
Meanwhile bootstrap at port 4242 works just fine
