Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

--- This is not a severe bug, rather an annoying behavior of the application ---

When I search for a chat in the search field (clicking on it or by ctrl+f) and select the first result via pressing enter, the chat overview panel (the left panel) jumps to the last/least recent entry/the bottom. This annoying, since you have to scroll back up manually.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to the search field
  2. search for a chat
  3. press Enter to select the first chat
  4. the left panel that displays all your chats jumps to its last entry/least recent chat

Expected result

the overview panel should display the pinned and most recent chats
When clicking on a search result, it keeps displaying the results

Actual result

the overview panel displays the least recent chat/its last entry or its previous display
